Q: Will Spiderhost move my domain to my new server for me?
A:

For security reasons – the security of your passwords and domain ownership – you are responsible for making changes with your domain registrar and moving your web content over.

   
Q: What are Spiderhost's network connections?
A: Our data center page has this info and more.
   
Q: Will I have root / administrator control?
A:

When you sign up you can choose to administer the server yourself, which gives you full administrator/root access to your server.  You can also choose to have us administer your server, in which case you’ll have FTP access.

   
Q: Does Spiderhost guarantee it's hardware components?
A: Of course we do!  In the unlikely event of a hardware failure we’ll replace the part(s) immediately and at no cost to you
   
Q: Will Spiderhost monitor my server?
A:

Monitoring network connectivity is included with every server.  If you choose to have us administer the server we’ll also monitor all open ports to ensure constant operation and respond immediately to any such notifications.  If you choose to administer the server yourself additional monitoring options are available for a small monthly fee.

   
Q: How do I upgrade my bandwidth?
A:

Your bandwidth is not locked, but you will be charged for exceeding your plans transfer limit.  If you think your bandwidth needs will be changing just upgrade your dedicated server plan!  There are never fees to change your service.

   
Q: Will Spiderhost install a statistics program on my server?
A:

We can install Urchin or WebTrends on your server for an additional charge.

   
Q: What software is included?
A: Click here to view the standard pre-installed software.
   
Q: Will you install SSH?
A: If you are managing your dedicated server SSH will be installed by default. We discourage the use of telnet.
   
Q: Can I have one or more servers linked together for private communications?
A:

Absolutely!  You can have as many ports as you want in your own virtual LAN, and each port costs $24.95 per month.

   
Q: How do I add additional IPs? Is there an upgrade fee?
A: Additional IP Addresses must be justified. The pricing is $4.95 a month. You can add this at any time by submitting a request to our support team.
   
Q: Can my hardware be upgraded? What are the fees for this?
A:

Yes!  For customized pricing please email sales@spiderhost.com.  Once you approve the price and terms we’ll schedule the upgrade, which may include a scheduled outage.

   
Q: Does Spiderhost provide DNS service? Can I have my own DNS name servers configured?
A:

For you first domain you can use our name servers at no charge.  And you can run your own DNS servers as well.

   
Q: Can I use Spiderhost as my secondary DNS?
A: Absolutely.
   
Q: Does Spiderhost offer firewall solutions?

Q: Where are your data centers located?

Q: How long does it take to get my server set up?
A:

It generally takes five to seven days from order completion to live server.

   
Q: What is the difference between Full-Managed and Self-Managed dedicated hosting service?
A:

Full-managed dedicated hosting means we take care of EVERYTHING while you maintain your site via FTP.  Self-managed means you administer your server and we are responsible for just the hardware and network connectivity.

   
Q: Can I add my own hardware to a Self-Managed server?
A:

Warranty and legal issues prevent us from allowing this.  Sorry!

   
Q: Are you the owner of the server/hardware?
A: We sure do!
   
Q: Does Spiderhost allow adult sites?
A: Nuh-uh. No way Jose!
   
Q: Does Spiderhost allow "bulk e-mail"?
A: Never ever ever.
   
Q: What if I need more information about your products and services?
